SIDEL, the World Leader in PET Bottle Blow
Molding Machines, Places Trust in Burton Corblin

July, 1999

SIDEL recently awarded a major contract to Burton Corblin covering the delivery and installation of seven complete high-pressure air compressor lines, each having a rated capacity of 745 scfm (1200 Nm3/hr).

These units are part of SIDEL's significant investment in the manufacture and testing of the most advanced new generation of ultra-clean bottle blowing/filling machines that will soon be produced on the SIDEL site of Octeville-sur-Mer, France.

These compressor lines each consist of a 3-stage, non-lubricated, reciprocating piston compressor taking atmospheric air and compressing it up to 625 psiG (43 barG) discharge pressure, a refrigeration-type dryer, a filter package with activated carbon element to ensure high purity, a buffer vessel and a closed-loop water cooling system including air-blast heat exchangers.  The materials of construction have been selected to suit the site environmental conditions and to ensure high reliability and long service life.

Each compressor will be supplied with analog transmitters, wired to a PLC-based local control panel, which also includes a soft start motor control center.  The compressor operating parameters will be constantly monitored by the PLC, which will be accessible via modem for remote reading and detection of changes in operating parameters, enabling Burton Corblin and SIDEL to perform appropriate preventative maintenance, ensuring optimum availability of the equipment.

With over a century of experience in the design and manufacture of air & gas compression units, Burton Corblin has applied its competence and skills to design a range of compressors and boosters to meet the requirements of the PET bottle market.

The Burton Corblin range of compressors & boosters is available with flowrates of 125 to 3110 scfm (200 to 5000 Nm3/hr). Simple and compact, the BCC (compressors) and BCS (boosters) series meets the needs of our clients around the world, providing high levels of reliability, performance and service.

SIDEL's decision to purchase Burton Corblin compressors demonstrates the recognition of Burton Corblin's continuing efforts to satisfy the needs of the PET bottle market.
